Saves time
Our assessment, developed at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, is based on over 30 years of scientific research. By combining eye tracking and artificial intelligence, a pupil’s reading ability can be analysed in minutes. The solution provides teachers with real-time data for intervention that directly correlates to a student’s reading capability. The key competitive advantages of the assessment are speed, objectivity and accuracy while also enabling personalised learning and resource optimization.
The Lexplore assessment is conducted on a computer while a connected eye tracker records the student’s eye movements. Eye movements offer valuable insight into the complex cognitive and linguistic processes behind reading. Using the latest in eye tracking technology to measure when, where, and how children’s eyes move in relation to the words they are reading we can detect minor differences in the way the brain processes text. The data is analysed using artificial intelligence in a secure cloud-based platform. Compared to currently used tests that take much longer time, and require far more resources, we achieve an accuracy around 95 %. But even more importantly – our test is fun for the student and easy on the teacher.
Insights
Fast insights about reading skills both on pupils, class, school and school organisation level.
-
Insights that supports each individual reading journey
-
Powerful visualisation of reading development

Data support resource planning
The entire test, including audio, is recorded and allows the teacher to replay the test in a powerful visualization. Reading ability is described in percentiles for the grade and time of year and is aggregated into groups indicating appropriate instruction strategies. The results are clearly presented on different levels – individual, class, school, and district. The method enables comparisons over time and between different groups. Everything is documented and readily available years ahead, while also making it possible for us to continuously improve the analysis as more data is added to the system. Lexplore is built for large scale assessment and helps school districts early and efficiently detect and address student literacy achievement gaps.
Our assessment can provide unparalleled insights into the reading development in a district, school or class as results can be compared not only between these countries, but also with other English-speaking countries such as England, United states, Australia, or New Zeeland on equal terms. Not only can this give the opportunity to compare results, by participating in a global platform like Lexplore it will also be possible to share good practice in reading instruction and reading intervention which is backed by solid data. Through Lexplore it is also possible to advance professional experience by peer learning among teachers. When used at scale it is also possible for decision makers to determine what works and what does not and make informed decisions on policy backed by evidence.

Personalise learning
Even the most experienced teacher may frequently find themselves challenged when it comes to identifying and supporting the many children in their classes who encounter different and cognitively very diverse difficulties when learning to read. The signs for specific reading difficulties also present very differently for each child, so it can be extremely difficult for teachers to pinpoint exactly which area of reading a child is struggling with.
Our assessment can analyse a child’s skills across key reading components, determine attainment, and highlight those with reading difficulties in a matter of minutes. It can, therefore, save months of assessment and discovery time. Those struggling readers who require targeted support can be identified in minutes, and then closely monitored through repeated testing to help ensure interventions are helping them to progress.
Fundamentally, teachers can only address literacy problems and personalise learning if they know exactly what they are in the first place. With objective results and intervention recommendations from Lexplore, teachers and school leaders can then make evidence-based decisions to tailor learning and help all children on their reading for pleasure journey. Library Our library is packed with e-books that make reading fun, engaging and easy for students. This is the best way to hand out the same book to all your class and work with literacy in the whole class. Students collect reading points and improve their reading skills whilst having a good time. They can challenge their reading friends and record their own reading voice as well.
Let your students improve by:
- Reading books in different languages and levels
- Listen to or read books at their own pace, at their own time.
- Sending them recommended books based on their assessment results
- Opening the doors to the world of literacy
Reading Diary
Let your students log all reading in one place. The Reading Diary is created to log reading in paper books.
Intensive Fluency Training
Reading is a complex process. When you read you decode the words and letters, as well as understand what you are reading. When a pupil’s decoding or fluency skills do not develop as expected, you can use Lexplore’s fluency books for support. We have made this to be used in all reading levels to excel in reading, based on a clear, evidence based international research.
